Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O, no! it is an ever-fixed mark,
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
Modern rendering
참된 마음들의 결합에
내가 장애를 인정하게 하지 마라. 사랑은 사랑이 아니다,
변화를 만나 변해 버리거나
떠나는 자를 따라 몸을 굽혀 떠난다면.
오, 아니다. 사랑은 영원히 고정된 표지,
폭풍을 바라보되 결코 흔들리지 않는 것.
방황하는 모든 배에게 별이 되는 것,
그 높이는 잴 수 있어도 그 값은 알 수 없는 것.
사랑은 시간의 어리석은 노예가 아니다.
장밋빛 입술과 뺨이
시간의 굽은 낫 안에 들어온다 해도,
사랑은 짧은 시간과 주마다 변하지 않고
심판의 끝 가장자리까지 견뎌 낸다.
이것이 오류라 증명된다면,
나는 글을 쓴 적도 없고, 누구도 사랑한 적이 없으리라.
